So I finally got my Buttercoin invite...
It seems really polished and nice. Doesn't seem to justify the time to launch though - but I sort of blame the crazy regulations everyone has to follow as the cause. I get the feeling these guys were 'done' a year ago and just spent all their time growing new ulcers waiting for each and every state to stamp approval. Texas and California are pretty friendly - but some seem to just have an obsession with anyone entering being some sort of scammer.
That aside, the site is nice and seems a better Coinbase. It's all written in AngularJS to it's nice and new:
I was sort of disappointed though. I was expecting a full exchange like Bitfinex but this really just seems to be another Coinbase/Circle/etc.. Aside from the interstate problems, you could launch something like this in a few months. Maybe there's more in store though. Overall, I think Circle is probably the best USD to BTC option for now, with Coinbase a close second. Going to keep my eye on Buttercoin though - I was under the impression they got a lot of funding, so I'd expect something more interesting soon.
